A Day in Caye Caulker

It started with an early morning stroll run around the island.  Man and dog in the sweltering heat.

After breakfast, we met Finn’s new bodyguard, Cornelio, and went over his responsibilities with him.

Dog secured, we were off to the boat for a day of snorkelling in the Hol Chan Marine Park.  We made several stops in the packed day.

Pictures are scarce for this one as they were taken with our waterproof camera  and I am not sure how to transfer them to the iPad.

We swam up close and personal with sea turtles, two kinds of stingrays, countless fish, a dozen sharks, a lion fish, barracuda, and in and out amongst spectacular corals.

I swam with sharks! I even grabbed one’s tail.

We also snorkelled around a sunken barge. That was very cool also.

Our guides caught some sea horses in the mangroves and showed them to us. Cool! Then we let them go.

We visited a pool of tarpon.

What a great day!

  1. I kept waiting for the disaster that happened with Finn while you were away story!!! Sounds like it was just another exciting day in another part of the world. Fantastic.
